We moved the chicks out to the coop last weekend and despite a rainy couple of days, they are pretty happy to have more room to peck around.  Mocha goes right into the coop everyday to say hello and helps move them into the stable in the evening.  She and the birds get along pretty well – she doesn’t try to bite at the birds and they don’t seem frightened by her.  The birds are getting big, fast – their tail feathers are coming in nicely and they like roosting on the edge of pallets on the floor.

I ordered 25 more birds this morning from NEPPA Hatchery – I got to see Ken Gies speak at the NOFA-NY conference and knew immediately where I’d order my next birds from – they run a small hatchery in upstate New York and raise their birds in a clean, healthy environment.
